Biden’s Desperate Attempt to Reverse the Immunity Ruling and Reshape the Supreme Court

President Joe Biden is considering publicly endorsing significant Supreme Court reforms in an attempt to overturn the Court’s immunity ruling and give Democrats a possibility of diminishing the Court’s conservative majority.

Biden’s primary proposal is to implement term limits for the nine justices with lifetime appointments. He also plans to support an ethics code for the court with an enforcement mechanism, addressing a gap in the court’s existing code.

Additionally, Biden is contemplating pushing for a constitutional amendment to overturn a recent Supreme Court ruling that granted presidents immunity for certain actions taken while in office.

The Washington Post first reported Biden's intentions to endorse these reforms.

During a weekend call with the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Biden hinted at the major reforms, indicating that significant changes were forthcoming and that he was consulting with constitutional lawyers. He did not provide specific details during the call.

Liberals targeted the Court the moment Trump appointed his first of three judges. Each time an opening appeared during his presidency, Democrats grew more enraged.

The overturning of Roe V Wade cemented their rage. Now, rather than focus on term limits Americans want to see, like Congress and Senate term limits, Biden is spinning his wheels on a last-ditch effort to undo the Court and its rulings with a proposal that will never pass through the hoops it needs to become policy..

In addition to requiring Congressional approval, Biden's proposed reforms would require congressional approval, and a constitutional amendment would need ratification by 38 states, a challenging process.

The issue of lifetime appointments was highlighted by the 2020 death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, which allowed then-President Donald Trump to appoint his third justice. Recent Supreme Court decisions, including the controversial ruling on presidential immunity, have further fueled calls for reform.

Biden's anticipated announcement was praised by progressive court reform groups.

Sarah Lipton-Lubet, president of Take Back the Court, stated, “Reforming this broken court is imperative – not just for protecting the hard-won rights of the last century, but for making any progress as a nation in the future.

While ethics rules and term limits alone cannot fully restore balance and independence, today’s announcement is a watershed moment in the fight to take back the court.”

Coast Guard Rescues Dave Portnoy

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was just rescued at sea by the United States Coast Guard.

In a video shared on X, Portnoy described an incident that happened during his mother’s visit to Nantucket.

His mom, Portnoy said, wanted to see his boat. He then swam out to get it, making a big mistake in the process. Dave detached the boat from the buoys before starting the engine.

This wouldn’t be a big deal if things went as planned - but they didn’t. Dave’s attempt to fire up his boat engine failed. The motor was totally dead.

The boat relied on the buoy as an anchor. Detached from the buoy, it began to drift. There was no way to communicate without power.  The winds picked up, and he found himself in a potentially dangerous situation.

He fired a flare in an attempt to signal for help while navigating around other vessels and honking steamboats in the harbor.

A woman on what seemed to be a rowboat noticed his distress and came to his aid. Her functional radio allowed her to contact the Coast Guard, who arrived soon after. "Four burly dudes, like ‘Hey, Dave,’" he recalled.

The Coast Guard secured his boat to their own and towed him back to shore. Portnoy reflected on the experience, expressing gratitude for the rescue and contemplating the dangers of the sea.

“Ya boys almost lost Captain Dave today," Portnoy said.: "Captain Dave unhooked himself from the buoy before he turned the boat on to make sure the boat wasn’t dead."

Responding to the incident on their X account, the Coast Guard wrote, "You’re welcome, Dave. Tell Miss Peaches [Portnoy’s dog] we said hi and remember to boat safe! #SemperParatus."
